Networking Events Fast-Track New Connections and Opportunities

There are so many ways to connect (or reconnect) with colleagues at #PlantBio2023. Numerous events are specifically designed to help you move “networking” to the top of your to-do list and talk with others who share your interests, both scientific and personal.
Whatever you hope to find – feedback on your research, job opportunities, career advice or simply new “work friends” – #PlantBio2023 offers targeted events for you.
Saturday, August 5
The interactions start with the Undergraduate Poster and Networking Session at 11:00 am in Meeting Room 102-103, where students of all levels can jump-start their networking.
If you haven’t attended Plant Biology before, be sure to put the First Time Attendee Orientation on your agenda so you can meet other newbies. It starts at 12:45 pm in Oglethorpe Auditorium.
The Welcome Reception starting at 6:00 pm in the Exhibit Hall is the perfect opportunity to scope out who’s here, who you want to meet and who you need to catch up with.
If you have your eye on publishing in Plant Physiology, The Plant Cell or Plant Direct, you’ll want to attend the Meet the Editors event in Aloha Park, also starting at 6:00 pm.
Sunday, August 6
The Corteva Student Showcase includes a networking component, where students can connect with leaders from this large agriculture-focused company. This event gets under way at 11:00 am in Meeting Room 203/205.
Come together with the LGBTQ+ community and allies at noon with the LGBTQ+ Plant Scientist Networking Event in the Community Building Lounge. Also at noon, you can find your Tweeps at the Twitter Meetup in Aloha Park.
Take a break and have a chat with someone new at 3:15 pm, with Coffee and Networking in the Exhibit Hall. Black, Indigenous and Latine plant scientists will want to join the Front & Center Networking Event, also starting at 3:15 pm in the Community Building Lounge.
The Networking Reception beginning at 5:30 pm in the Exhibit Hall is a great place to meet, greet and catch up on plant science developments by viewing poster presentations. The LGBTQ+ Mixer starts at 7:30 pm at the Moon River Brewing Company, just across the river from the Savannah Convention Center.
Monday, August 7
Scientists in the first five years of their appointments and experienced postdocs, set your alarm so you can find people with similar perspectives at the Women’s Young Investigator Travel Award Winners Recognition & Networking Session beginning at 8:00 am in Meeting Room 102-103.
There are two opportunities for catchups and introductions in the Exhibit Hall, with Coffee & Networking starting at 2:45 pm and a Networking Reception starting at 5:00 pm.
If you are or have been a Plantae Fellow, there’ s a special Plantae Fellow Meetup for you this evening, beginning at 5:30 pm in the Community Building Lounge.
Tuesday, August 8
Today’s the day to solidify the ties you’ve created before everyone departs tomorrow. There’s one last chance for Coffee and Networking in the Exhibit Hall starting at 2:45 pm, followed by the premier event for Plant Biology networking and fun, the Annual Party, beginning at 6:30 pm in the Georgia International Gallery.
