Geoffrey Wasteneys is a Professor in the Department of Botany at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver. He obtained his PhD from the Australian National University (ANU), was a Humboldt Fellow at the University of Heidelberg, a Queen Elizabeth II Fellow and, eventually a Senior Fellow at the ANU. Since 2004 he has been a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Plant Cell Biology at UBC, and since 2006, the Director of the UBC Bioimaging Facility. Wasteneys combines advanced imaging and molecular-genetic strategies to explore the role of microtubules and their associated proteins in plant growth, development and responses to environmental stress. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and President of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists.
