Dr. Phil Taylor is currently the New Investments Lead within Monsanto’s Biotechnology organization. In this role, Phil is responsible for setting the strategy and delivering on important external engagements. He works across the Biotechnology organization to identify key technologies to pursue, to ensure external collaborations are effectively managed, to conduct competitive intelligence in support of our technology business and to direct the Biotechnology relationship and collaboration strategy in China.
Phil joined Monsanto in 2006 and has held various roles in Regulatory Sciences and Biotechnology first contributing to, and subsequently leading Yield Trait Projects, IT Capital Projects and Collaborations, including the BASF R&D agreement. In his most recent role of Technology Science Strategy Manager, Phil was instrumental in the growth of the Monsanto Science Fellows Program and the increase of its impact to Monsanto. In addition, Phil catalyzed increased engagement and impact with scientific societies, universities, and other external scientific organizations to foster stronger relationships and enhance Monsanto’s scientific reputation. Phil is an Associate Science Fellow and past Chair of the Monsanto’s International Technology Mentoring Program.
Externally, Phil is active within the governance of the American Society of Plant Biologists as member of its Program Committee. He received his Ph.D. from the John Innes Centre in Norwich, UK, and held post-doctoral positions at The University of Leeds and UNC-Chapel Hill. Phil lives in St. Charles with his wife Amanda and their four children.
