Community Proposed Plenary Proposals

The Program Committee invites the community to propose plenary topics for Plant Biology 2025. The plenary symposia include four (4) 30-minute talks including Q&A and will be organized by the proposal submitter who is referred to as the session chair. If the proposal submission is accepted, the submitter/session chair will work with the presenters to ensure that individual speaker abstracts are summited. The Program Committee will confirm the date of the plenary.

Community-Proposed Concurrent Symposium Proposal
Open: Tuesday, September 10, 2024
Submission Deadline: Friday, November 1, 2024
Develop a 1 hour 45-minute concurrent scientific symposia. As the proposal submitter, you will be fully responsible for:
- Assigning a session chair to serve as primary point of contact for the program committee.
- Designing a concurrent symposium that includes five (5) 20-minute talks.
- Recruiting five (5) speakers to participate in the symposium. The session chair can be one of the 5 speakers
- Ensuring that all speakers draft and submit scientific abstracts for their talks.
Virtual Option
For the 2025 Plant Biology conference, ASPB will offer Plant Biology Extended in August 2025.
Workshop Proposal
Open: Tuesday, September 10, 2024
Deadline: Friday, November 1, 2024
Interactive workshops provide hands-on learning opportunities with clear learning objectives. As the proposal submitter, you will be responsible for designing the workshop. Workshop topics range from communication techniques to mental health to career development and everything in between. Workshops can be 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes (about 4 hours) long and delivered in-person or virtually.
Virtual workshops will be offered in the weeks of July 7 and July 14 – prior to the in-person conference.
Independent Abstract Proposal
Open: Tuesday, September 10, 2024
Deadline: January 7, 2025
All members of the plant biology community are invited to submit an abstract on their topic of expertise. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee and, if selected, placed in a concurrent symposium developed by the Program Committee. Abstracts not selected for a concurrent symposium talk or received after the deadline will be offered the chance to present a poster.
Poster Abstract Proposal
Open: Tuesday, September 10, 2024
Deadline to have a poster number assigned: June 19, 2025
All members of the plant science community are invited to present a poster. All poster presenters must submit an abstract and produce a poster. Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not have a poster number, and the poster will be in the ābreaking scienceā area of the exhibition hall.
What You Need to Know
- Presentations and posters will be delivered in-person at Plant Biology 2025 in Milwaukee, WI.
- Some proposals may be selected for Plant Biology 2025 Extended, ASPBās virtual event.
- You can submit up to two (2) abstract proposals.
- The ASPB Program Committee reviews all abstracts.
- ASPB members and non-members may submit proposals.
- All in-person speakers and poster presenters must register for Plant Biology 2025 and pay the appropriate registration fee.
Inviting Speakers
Please be sure all proposed speakers are aware they are being included in your plenary proposal before starting the proposal. In the speaker section, once you click ‘Invite (Speaker Name)‘ (see image 1 below), the speaker will receive an email from noreply@gocadmium.com (see image 2 below) instructing them to log in to complete their demographic information.
Note: The speakers will be asked to complete the non-mandatory questions found on the speaker profile page of the submission.
